Like every November, this year too our enchanting historic center celebrates, on the occasion of its patron saint, "The Summer of San Martino", with a calendar full of events dedicated to lovers of tradition, in the name of good food, culture and entertainment.
"The Summer of San Martino" includes a food and wine itinerary in the renowned restaurants in the center, in addition to the typical markets that animate the main squares of Pietrasanta, exhibitions and galleries open to visitors, solemn celebrations at the Cathedral and activities dedicated to children; an initiative that attracts the public from all over Italy to the rediscovery of Versilian folklore.
In fact, from 7 to 13 November, various restaurants in the center will be open for both lunch and dinner, with exquisite traditional menus (here is the list of restaurants participating in the initiative), offering typical local cuisine. The food market will see Tuscan producers as protagonists - and not only - who within their stands will offer products of the highest quality to be tasted.
It is an opportunity for the inhabitants of the center and tourists to rediscover the beauties of Pietrasanta: as the councilor Francesca Bresciani underlines "The Summer of San Martino is a real schedule, which perfectly embodies the idea of a Pietrasanta to live all year round, according to our #Pietrasanta 365° project".
The events will begin on Friday 11 November: at 18:00, on the occasion of the feast of San Martino, a solemn mass will be held at the Cathedral in homage to the Patron Saint. In the meantime, at the Municipal Theater of the city, the event "Sophia. La Philosophy in Celebration ”, the Philosophy Festival of Tuscany which every year brings to Pietrasanta some of the most famous philosophers and names of Italian culture, providing a varied program with academic and informal meetings for all lovers of knowledge.
Saturday 12 and Sunday 13, from 8:00 to 20:00, the food and wine fair featuring "The Summer of San Martino" will take place in Piazza del Duomo and in Piazza Carducci, with markets, stalls and food stands.
To conclude the initiative, an orangutan concert by Carlo Fermalvento, organist of the Cathedral of San Miniato, will be held on Sunday 13 at 4:30 pm at the Cathedral.
But if we talk about Pietrasanta we can't help but think about art: in fact, in these days we will have an interesting cultural program to follow, starting with Michele Balderi's personal exhibition inside the bell tower of the Duomo, as well as various exhibitions in the room. del San Leone and in the Sala delle Grasce, not to mention the opening of all the museums in the city, such as the Museum of the Bozzetti, the Bruno Antonucci archaeological museum, the Carducci birthplace and the Barsanti museum.
Days full of events to liven up our beautiful historic center: the Summer of San Martino is definitely an event not to be missed!
