Camaiore and its hills: historic villas surrounded by greenery

Camaiore is one of the most beautiful historic centers of Versilia, a picturesque town full of monuments and places of interest to be discovered.

The history of Camaiore dates back to the 2nd century BC, when the Romans, once the city of Lucca had been founded, decided to build some fortifications at the foot of Mount Prana, the southernmost peak of the Apuan Alps. Thus the Colonia Lucensis arose in the great plain behind the mountain – called capus maior, i.e. greater field, name from which Camaiore derives.

During the Middle Ages, the city became increasingly important, when Lucca later regained control over the city thanks to the Lombards following the barbarian invasions, and it was with the spread of Christianity that the first churches of Camaiore were born, such as the Pieve di Santo Stefano . Thanks to the ancient Via Francigena, which headed north-west from Lucca, Camaiore grew considerably and became a fundamental stop on Sigerico's itinerary which led to Canterbury.

A city with an important history, which echoes in every corner, in every square. Among the most interesting architectures, we remember the ancient Badia di San Pietro, a Catholic abbey dating back to the seventh century.

The hills of Camaiore were territories of interest for many noble families from northern Italy, who settled in these places starting from the 18th century, where today it is possible to find enchanting villas, historic houses of inestimable value, characterized by majestic architecture, well-kept gardens and of course the sea view: one of these is Il Pettirosso.

A legend has it that St. Joseph was painting red wood in his workshop, and at that moment a very confident little bird came to visit him, which approached him so much as to get his chest dirty with red paint and from that day on The little bird was called a robin. This legend tells us about an encounter between man and nature, and this is exactly what we want to convey to people looking for a house in the hills.

Il Pettirosso is the ideal home for anyone wishing to live in contact with nature, in an environment where you can breathe the purest air, where you can gently wake up in the morning by the chirping of birds coming from the trees, a song as subtle as a tinkle of water. gold. Villa Il Pettirosso truly enjoys an excellent exposure, as it is positioned on a hill kissed by sunlight at any time of day. The vast and well-kept park that surrounds it is spread over flat land, an added value for a house on the hills, and allows the construction of a beautiful swimming pool, which would make this splendid property even more exclusive. The property is also easily accessible by car.

The villa is accessed via a beautiful and evocative tree-lined avenue that leads directly to the main entrance. Inside, we find all the typical characteristic elements of historic villas on the hills of Tuscany: original floors, grit stairs, ceilings with coffered wooden beams, make every corner of this house full of charm warm and welcoming. Villa Il Pettirosso is a refined and elegant residence, where tradition remains intact and embraces us at all times with its warmth.
