Bandiera Blu a Marina di Pietrasanta. Estate 2022 in Versilia

Versilia is certainly one of the favorite summer holiday destinations for Italians, for its sea, its tradition, its countless events and its incredible territory full of beauties to discover, framed by the splendid Apuan Alps and dotted with beautiful historic centers. Pietrasanta with its Marina, Forte dei Marmi, Lido di Camaiore and Viareggio each year host thousands of tourists from all over the peninsula and beyond. And this year all the beaches and bathing establishments of the Tuscan coast, from Marina di Pietrasanta to Pisa, will be able to proudly wave the Blue Flag, the prestigious environmental award that certifies the quality of the beaches and waters.

The Blue Flag is precisely a very important certification issued by the Foundation For Environmental Education (FEE), a Danish NGO founded in 1981 that operates worldwide, which certifies the purity of the seaside areas, with the aim of promoting a sustainable approach to territory and safeguarding the environment. The jury at the base of the NGO examines every year the spontaneous applications of the various locations that choose to join the project on the basis of as many as 32 criteria, constantly updated to induce participants to commit themselves to the utmost in respect of the environment. In order to obtain the Blue Flag, a beach must first of all be designated as a bathing area at national or international level and have at least one sampling point for the analysis of bathing waters, as well as obviously meeting the requirements indicated by the FEE.

Among the requirements that the FEE commission evaluates we find the quality of bathing water, waste management, accessibility of the beach and the services offered, especially for people with disabilities, the safety of staff and guests, environmental education and initiatives aimed at raising people's awareness. This year, 2022, only 210 Italian municipalities managed to obtain the Blue Flag; of these, we find 18 Tuscan municipalities with a total of 35 beaches, including Marina di Pietrasanta.

Surely, the fact that this year the whole Tuscan coast, from Marina di Carrara to Livorno, obviously including our beloved Versilia, will be able to wave the Blue Flag will help to attract even more visitors and tourists for the months of June, July and August. . The mayor of Pietrasanta himself, Alberto Giovannetti expressed himself on the conquest of the banner: “This recognition is for our whole sea system, the quality of which has certainly never been questioned. But now, thanks to the Blue Flag, Pietrasanta and its Marina are also formally returning to their rightful place: among the best seaside resorts in Italy ".

Choosing Versilia and its shores as a place to retire for your summer holidays therefore means making a quality choice: not only enjoying the beauties of our territory, the services and comforts offered by the numerous equipped beaches that dot the marina, but also benefiting the healthiness of the water, something not to be underestimated absolutely.
