10 cose da fare a Pietrasanta (Parte 2)

Have you arrived in Versilia to spend your summer holidays and are you wondering what to visit in the magnificent Pietrasanta, the little pearl of Versilia, located 5 minutes from the sea and surrounded by the gentle profiles of the Apuan Alps? Here are the other 5 unmissable stops to complete the Pietrasanta tour, discovering a thousand hidden wonders:

1.THE HELICAL STAIRCASE OF THE BELL TOWER

Also in the main square, next to the Duomo, we meet the characteristic bell tower, in red bricks about 36 meters high. The work, built around the sixteenth century, is unfinished, as a total covering in white marble was initially envisaged. But the real wonder of this bell tower is inside: in fact, there is a spectacular spiral-shaped staircase, unique of its kind, designed by the Florentine architect Donato Benti. The staircase seems to wrap itself around a central empty space without any support, a truly innovative creation. Only at certain times of the year it is possible to visit this architectural masterpiece, especially during the summer season when the bell tower remains open to host art exhibitions.

2. WALL OF CAPRIGLIA

Not to be missed for lovers of the hills, the magnificent panoramic view that can be observed from the so-called "Muretto di Capriglia". One of the best panoramic hilly points from which to admire a view that sweeps from the port of Livorno to the Ligurian promontory. The Capriglia wall is located in the village of the same name which can be reached in about 6 km from the historic center of Pietrasanta. For all photography enthusiasts it will be a mandatory destination.

3. GIOSUÈ CARDUCCI BIRTH HOUSE MUSEUM

The well-known Italian poet Giosuè Carducci was born in the characteristic village of Valdicastello behind Pietrasanta in 1835, who was awarded the Nobel Prize for literature in 1906. Today it is possible to visit his birthplace, which has become a museum, where inside there are furnishings, paintings and objects related to the poet's life, letting us be fascinated by a suspended atmosphere that immediately takes us back in time. Admission to the birthplace museum is free and in the months of July and August it will be possible to visit from Tuesday to Sunday from 17:00 to 20:00.

4.SHOPPING IN THE STREETS OF THE CENTER

The different streets that characterize the historic center of Pietrasanta are dotted with shops and boutiques of all types, for the most part they are exclusive, unique commercial activities, which offer quality artisan products to the public and more and more shops and businesses choose to open the doors in the historic center. If you are planning a tour of Pietrasanta, you cannot do without a visit to the most beautiful shops in the center, for an afternoon of unbridled shopping.

5.THE VERSILIANA PARK

Just 3 km from the historic center, for lovers of the green, we can meet the splendid Versiliana pine forest, a large park of about 800,000 square meters where you can walk in contact with the luxuriant nature and the typical local flora. The Versiliana Park is not only a suggestive pine forest where you can practice sports, but over the years it has become a very popular place of culture, thanks to the work of the Versiliana Foundation which organizes the Festival of the same name every summer, which takes place in the enchanting Theater all 'open located inside the Park. The prestigious Meetings at the Caffè della Versiliana are also held in the spaces of the pine forest, the well-known cultural salon, place of debates and interviews in which illustrious names of the Italian scene participate.
